The story.
Problem
Microplastics fieldwork meant capturing photos on a phone, emailing them to a workstation, running the model, then merging results back with manual observation notes. Slow, lossy, and brittle.
Approach
- Mobile capture pipeline that posts directly to the model and renders detection overlays inline.
- Sample observation log tied to user accounts and project tags for downstream analysis.
- Designed for one-handed outdoor use, high-contrast UI, generous tap targets, offline-tolerant queue.
Outcome
Shortened the loop from sample to insight from days to minutes; researchers see detections in the field and re-shoot if the frame is bad.
